Denali is an adult Husky with an unknown past. If you ask me, I would tell you her life began the day she was found in the desert with her pups...the day she came into our little Rescue.

I will also tell you, right now and without hesitation, that Denali is nothing less than remarkable. She has been remarkable since the day she stepped foot into our home. She is strong and smart and patient. She has this endless reserve of trust that has been key in her steady acclimation to this new life.

Denali has a very neutral character, not dominant but also not subdued, which makes her a wonderful playmate for...well...any dog. She enjoys the company of big dogs, as well as little ones, and is aware of the household cat but not overly attentive to him. It took her a little while to join in with the other dog's play, and her first attempts were hilariously awkward, but with time, and opportunity, she has become a playful pro.

Denali is mostly house-trained. She has begun to use that famous Husky voice of hers to tell us when she needs to go out. At night, however, she will sometimes choose to potty on the floor (always in the bathroom, interestingly) rather than wake us up. Denali has never been destructive, which is an unusual trait for a Husky. She can be left with free-reign of the house while we are gone as long as the house is secure. Secure spaces are of great importance. We have never been able to get her into a crate...so she is not crate-trained.

Denali has come a very long way with touch. In the beginning, she allowed us very little opportunity for touch. And we respected her cues and refusals...every. single. time. Respect is also of great importance. With time, she has begun to enjoy pets and even sometimes seeks touch out from us, She has even been known to roll over for belly scratches from time-to-time.

Denali is a great car-travel companion and is also very good on leash. She loves walks and playtime in the yard. There was a time when Denali would refuse to come inside and she would repetitively test the outside fences and gates for weakness. This was a time when we could not trust her. She required supervision 100% of the time and will require it again in any home she travels to. Fences and gates must be tall and secure. This makes her no less remarkable, Husky's are known for these types of behaviors, but this trait will require diligent attention for any potential adopter.

We have no idea if she had experience with children before coming into Rescue, but with ours, she has been consistently gentle. If our little girls are awake, we know Denali will be close by. As mentioned above, respect for Denali is of great importance, not only from the adults in the home, but also from the children in the home.

She is a pleasure, a bit of a challenge, and a deeply rewarding companion. Denali is just...well...remarkable.

Denali's adoption fee of $200.00 includes her microchip, spay and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine.
