My name is Sheila. At least, that's my name for now. Some of my friends call me Sheila Magoo. They say I remind them of a cartoon character, but since I'm blind, I can't see the resemblance. On January 27th, 2015, I was brought in to Pima Animal Care Center as a stray. They guessed I was 7 years old, gave me a temporary name (Lambkins), and I waited in a kennel for seven days for someone to come and claim me. Nobody ever came. Because I had glaucoma - which had long ago taken my eyesight and gave me constant headaches - and because PACC doesn't have the resources to treat it besides pain medicine, they sent out a plea for someone to adopt or foster me quickly. They said I was on the "Short Term Rescue" list, which means I only had five days to find a home... and just before the literal deadline was up, I did. Fosters with In the Arms of Angels took me to get immediate medical evaluation and treatment and gave me a home to get over the cold I had caught at PACC. They gave me a new name, Sheila, which I learned very quickly. It didn't take long for me to get adjusted to my new home, but I still sometimes run into things when I get excited. They tried a combination of five kinds of eye drops - which I absolutely hated having to hold still for - but it just didn't work well enough. I had to have surgery. My eyes are gone now, but it's a good thing. I couldn't see anyway, and now I will never be in pain like that again. Now that my recovery is officially over, I'm ready to begin the rest of my life... by finding my forever home! Sheila's adoption fee of $125.00 includes her microchip, spay and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine. A $11.00 license transfer fee will also be collected at time of adoption.
